Calamigos Ranch Wedding Malibu at The Ranch House | Chris and Nikki

Flowers are my thing. At all the weddings we photograph, the first thing I notice, are the floral choices that the bride makes (oh, yeah, and the groom). Nikki’s flowers were to die for. Exotic, vibrant and in abundance, I was in awe! Purple phalaenopsis orchids, perfect dendrobium and cymbidium orchids, red striped roses just to name a few. Her bouquet had a mix of hydrangea, roses, lilies and more. Beverly at Mr. B’s Florist is an artist! Also stunning was the vintage look that Nicki had, and we had a lot of fun photographing the two in the outdoorsy ranch surroundings at Calamigos Ranch. Calamigos Ranch is a beautiful wedding venue in the in the heart of Malibu Wine Country. There are several choices on this enormous property to choose your ceremony and reception location and Chris and Nikki chose my personal favorite, The Ranch House. It feels hidden and tucked away surrounded by trees, greens and a quaint waterfall. Nikki and Chris took advantage of the surroundings with a long cocktail hour including The Peek a Booth photo booth, and delicious appetizers and drinks, and of course a swanky cigar bar for the guys.

Nikki and Chris also had their loveable dogs involved in the ceremony! So fun! Donned with red striped roses, they were the hit of the procession!

In Chris’ culture, and an important part of the day is the offering of gifts (in this case fine jewels) from Chris’ family to Nikki, and the moment was very touching. The family rings and jewelry were incredible (check out the ring below!) I always love learning about different cultural traditions that can be involved in the wedding ceremonies and the reasons for doing so. Of course capturing these moments is what its all about!
