We had the privilege of photographing a fabulous wedding at Mountaingate Country Club in Bel Air. When I think of this wedding I think ‘class’. These two are just classy… and sweet and totally in love. Monica included some Peruvian traditions in their wedding like serving the delicious Pisco Sour cocktail and handing out traditional masks for their guests to wear during dancing. It was like a scene out of Eyes Wide Shut ..well not really…at least as far as the mask wearing goes. : )
We got some beautiful pictures at this wedding. One of the main reasons, besides the fact that it’s hard to take a bad picture of Monica, is that they decided to see one another before the ceremony. We call it “The Reveal” or “First Look”. What this does is afford us the extra time before the wedding to take all the group pictures and we always set up a private area to document the ‘reveal moment’ when the couple sees each another for the first time. It’s a special moment and most couples regard it as one of their favorite parts of the day.
So now, instead of an hour of taking pictures after the ceremony, Monica and Hugh were able to enjoy their cocktail hour with their guests who traveled in from all over the world to see them. It just makes the whole day flow smoothly with no stress and no one feels rushed.
Another secret to having a successful wedding day is to hire a professional wedding planner. I can’t express enough how much smoother your day will go. Friends and family mean well, but why not let someone else take responsibility for your day going perfectly? Not your closest friends and family. Mimi of Mimi Events was wonderful to work with and I’d recommend her in a heartbeat.
The couple got ready at the nearby Luxe Hotel on Sunset. The ceremony and reception took place at one of our favorite locations..Mountain Gate Country Club. Susie Hansen’s latin band kept the guests dancing under the stars. They were a blast.
We had such a fun time. Hugh was surprising Monica with the honeymoon destination. We’re dying to find out where.
